Ukraine. Pharmacy kiosks are closed

On 29 December 2012 regulations allowing companies to sell medicine at retail prices from pharmacy kiosks were canceled.

“The requirement to close pharmacy kiosks was linked to the fact that from the point of view of the quality of servicing the public, pharmacy kiosks do not ensure the proper level of provision of pharmaceutical services” – said the press service of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines.

In particular, pharmacy kiosks could not have any trading space, the gross area of the pharmacy kiosks was very restricted, and the rules for storing medicine were continuously violated. Also, State Service of Ukraine on Medicines assured that closing pharmacy kiosks would not considerably impact the availability of medicine.
